Additional Information

  • Gravelanche is an endurance bicycle ride that subjects the participants to the inherent and considerable risks normally associated with a continuous gravel cycling event. The considerable length of the ride on the roads and back country trails involves substantial risk to all participants that could result in significant injury and death. The nature of this relay means that riders will face substantial physical challenge, endure long periods out of range of food or water and any contact with cell service or other services. All riders must rely on their own capabilities to complete and endure this event and each rider is required to be self-sufficient during the entire event. There should be no support expected from the event organizers.

    All riders are reminded that they are responsible for their own safety at all times. Riders will experience rough terrain that will subject the riders to wildlife, natural elements and dangers, vehicles, weather and all other elements that create dangerous conditions for riders. Riders are encouraged to review the route, research the terrain and types of riding involved and understand the true nature of the event in order to accept the significance of what they will experience. Riders are accepting that the very essence and nature of the ride involves these significant risks and these challenges form the basis for each riders desire to participate.

    • Helmets are required to be worn at all times.
    • Support vehicles are not permitted for this race.
    • The 35 and 60 mile races will have one aid station and the 100 miler will have two aid stations, both are marked on the map.
    • The course and roads are open to traffic. All racers must follow forest service rules and traffic laws of the road.
    • If you have an emergency on the course call 911 or the local authorities listed on your que sheet. There will be no event management SAG.
    • Please notify event officials if you leave the race.
    • Racers will need to use que sheet and GPS to follow the course, there will be no course markings.
    • Distributed bike plates must be displayed on the front of your bike at all times.
    • Riders need to be prepared to fix anything that may come their way (flats, mechanical, etc).
    • All racers are required to track their race on GPS in the case of disputes.

    • Waiver Policy
      • All participants must sign the Whitewater Assumption of Risk Agreement before participating.
      • Waivers must be completed digitally using the registration link on this page.
    • Weather Policy
      • Events are scheduled to proceed rain or shine.
      • Whitewater reserves the right to alter/reschedule/cancel any programming at any time.
    • Emergency Policy
      • Participants must call 911 if emergency services are needed.
