Educational Programs
Field Trips pair Educational Programs with outdoor activities. These programs are designed to have classrooms actively learning and engaging with the natural world. Whitewater environmental and STEAM-based education courses meet curriculum standards for North Carolina and South Carolina schools.

ADVENTURE ARCHITECTS
Design a prototype of a Whitewater obstacle course. Students will understand how various shapes can be combined to create simple machines.
Grades 3-12

ANIMAL HABITATS
Students will learn about the diversity of animal habitats and the variables that affect them through a series of interactive activities.
Grades K-5

BUILD YOUR OWN BOAT
Combine principles of physics with creativity to design an original watercraft prototype.
Grades 3-12

SOLUTIONS TO POLLUTION
Investigate the impacts humans have on the planet through inquiry and experimentation. Students learn about the natural world around them and how to make a positive impact on the environment.

TEAM BUILDING
Students engage in problem solving and skill development utilizing Whitewater’s Team Development Center.
Grades K-12

STEAM QUEST
Students break out into groups and complete various tasks relating to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Students move through eight stations and complete as many tasks as possible within the designated time.
Grades 3-12

ZIP LINE ENGINEERING
Learn about the physics behind zip lining including how factors such as gravity, friction, and change in mass affect the motion of an object. Students use engineering principles to design and test their own mini zip line made from everyday items and test their newfound zip line engineering skills.

What grades can participate in Field Trip programs?
The Whitewater Center offers a variety of programming for grades K-12. Complete the inquiry form to speak with an Event Coordinator about available options.
What is the duration of Field Trip programs?
Each program varies in length based on the group’s goals and schedule. Please discuss the duration of your stay with Events staff to decide which programs and activities will best suit your visit. Pass activity hours vary throughout the year and are available on the calendar.
Are lunches available for purchase?
