Mountain Biking

The mountains surrounding Windfall offer a wide range of mountain biking options including fast and flowy single track and chunkier technical options presenting steep downhill runs.  The elevations in the region usually mean significant climbing which equals significant descents.  Those looking for mellower options can look to the notable rail trails such as the New River and Virginia Creeper Trails.  The area is highly regarded for its biking in no large part due to the variety and volume of options.

About

The Jefferson National Forest is home to the bulk of the local trail networks and forest service roads creating endless riding opportunities in the region. The brand new Bike Ranch outside of Abingdon also creates new mountain biking opportunities for all skill levels.  The Iron Mountain range presents a significant series of trails and do not ignore the forest service roads and rail trails for less technical but scenic rides.
